A first date doesn't have to be a long dinner where you both stare at the menu. In North Cyprus you are never far from the sea, the mountains or an old town full of little cafés — perfect backdrops for an easy first meeting.

Quick tips: Pick a busy public place, Keep the first date short, Plan your own way home

By the sea

  • Kyrenia (Girne) harbour at sunset. Walk along the harbour, grab an ice cream and watch the boats come in. Busy, beautiful and easy to leave if it isn't clicking.
  • A morning beach walk. Escape Beach, Alagadi or the long sandy beaches near Famagusta are calmer before lunch — bring water and comfortable shoes.
  • Glapsides beach café. Close to the universities in Famagusta and relaxed enough for a long chat.

History and views

  • St Hilarion Castle. A short climb, huge views and plenty to talk about. Go in the cooler part of the day.
  • Bellapais Abbey. The village is quiet and pretty, with cafés right next to the abbey.
  • Famagusta's old town. Walk the walls, visit the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque from outside, and finish with tea in a courtyard café.

Low-cost and low-pressure

  • Board games or a quiz night at a student café — the game does half the talking.
  • A study date during exams: library first, coffee after.
  • The Arasta in Nicosia (Lefkoşa). Wander the market streets and share some local street food.
  • A TrncDate event or meetup. Meeting in a group takes the pressure off — check the Events page for what's on near you.

Make it a good one

Whatever you choose, keep the first meeting in a public place, tell a friend where you are going and arrange your own transport. If you've already matched on TrncDate, suggest one of these ideas in chat — it's a much easier yes than "do you want to meet?".

The best first date is the one where you both relax. Choose a place where talking feels natural.
